Team Little welcomes Travis Sharp and Bill Burst
SHERRILLS FORD, North Carolina (February 11, 2012)-With over 15 years of experience in the top levels of NASCAR racing, Travis Sharpe will lead Team Little’s efforts on the NASCR K&N Pro Series East and NASCAR Whelen All American Series with third generation driver, Jesse Little, handling the driving duties.
With experiences atop the pit box and expertise race car fabrication, Sharpe is excited for his new opportunity.
“I own a full-blown late model chassis shop that had a 15-win season with our clients last season (including Taylor Malsam, Rick Crawford, Greg Edwards and others). Our biggest victory came at Rockingham with Corey LaJoie and I have served as Rick Crawford’s crew chief on the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. All of these experiences will surely make an impact with a great young driver and a growing team. I expect nothing less than success with Jesse in 2012,” Sharpe said.
Team Little’s driver is equally excited about Sharpe leading the way in the upcoming season.
“As soon as the last race in November ended we immediately started planning for this season. This has been one of the busiest off-season in my career as I’ve been spending most of my time outside of school working down at the shop. Much of that time has been spent learning as much as I can about our NASCAR K&N Pro Series East and NASCAR Whelen All American cars while we prepare for the new season. Travis and I have been spending time with each other and he’s already taught me a lot. I’m really looking forward to our team heading to the track very soon.”
While Sharpe’s strength is in the crew chief role, he has success in a variety of positions over the years, he noted.
“I have a strong background in driver development most recently with NASCAR Nationwide Series driver Taylor Malsam and have been involved in marketing including bringing (Canadian-based) SuperSeal into NASCAR. I have truly been blessed to be a key member of many successful programs since 1996.”
Little will benefit from a solid sophomore season behind the wheel of his late model and looks to his third year in full-size race cars with great enthusiasm built in part with Sharpe’s guidance.
“Last year was definitely a learning season for Team Little. We have a lot better grasp on what’s to come this year and with the hiring of Travis I feel there is nothing but success headed our way, said the driver of the Hurst Motorsports Chevrolet”
