Little ready to rock UARA American 200 at Rockingham Speedway

SHERRILLS FORD, North Carolina (November 3, 2011)-With less then a month left in the 2011 season, Jesse Little and the Leavitt Racing Chassis team head to one of the fastest tracks on the UARA circuit-Rockingham Speedway-for the running of the American 200.  And, a track in which his Dad, Chad Little, had a victory in 1995.

Having to compete on a fast one-mile oval after several weeks of short track racing is nothing new for Little. Getting up to speed on the lightning quick track comes from having solid notes to work with, he noted.

“I just like to go over the notes from our last time at Rockingham and see what problems we faced; especially since there is no other track to compare to based on what we’ve been running in recent weeks. The biggest key to success for our team this weekend will be to show-up well prepared.”

To be well prepared means making the right adjustments from recent events such as the Virginia Is For Lovers 300 run on a half-mile in Martinsville to the set-up at Concord Speedway’s three-eighth oval, Little explained.

“Major adjustments are being made to our race car for this event. We double check all our nuts and bolts of course, we’re using a different tire compound then what we run everywhere else and we have become picky on the body because this race is pretty much a super-speedway event for our team.”

Having just one week to prepare the team’s Chevrolet, Little has set realistic goals for the UARA season finale.   “My personal goal this weekend is to just get a finish in the American 200. If we have a good car and I keep us out of trouble we should come out of there with a top-5,” Little said.

Having been to Rockingham and a recent UARA event should help the team reach their goals, he added.

“It does help us to a certain extent knowing not only the track but the drivers we’re competing against but when it comes down to it each one changes just like we do from week to week. A driver might have a bad night the week before and you get collected with them so it makes you stay on your toes. The track will be different from the early part of the year to now so we have to better prepared then the other teams for all that we’ll face.”

The American 200 gets underway with qualifying set for 3 p.m. on Friday. UARA teams take the green flag Saturday at Noon. To learn more about ticket process for the American 200 log onto rockinghamspeedway.com
