Little roars into Myrtle Beach for final start of 2011
SHERRILLS FORD, North Carolina (November 16, 2011)-Jesse Little and Team Little Racing head to Myrtle Beach, SC for their final start of the 2011 season with high hopes of another strong run on one of the country's great short-tracks.
Little made the field of the prestigious Virginia Is For Lovers 300 at Martinsville Speedway last month where he became the youngest driver to qualify for the event. The high school freshman followed that up with a strong run on the UARA Series and recently ran at Rockingham Speedway where a solid run was dashed in an early race incident.
Damage in Rockingham only gave Team Little two weeks to repair and prepare their Chevrolet up for the tricky half-mile South Carolina facility and the running of the 19th Annual Myrtle Beach 400. The weekend consists of a late model 250-lap shootout, a 100 limited late model race and a 50-lap support show.
Myrtle
Beach's late-season showdown features the region's top drivers vying for over
$10,000 going out to the winner. Little has circled this date for many weeks as
the race to close out the season with a strong run. Little, a third-generation
driver, will attempt to make the late model field after competing in the limited
late model event one year ago, finishing 5th.
"This race might be in the top-3 running for the biggest races of the year. A lot of time and preparation goes into the race weekend. We ran the limited race there last year and had good success (a fifth place finish after qualifying second). This weekend our goals are to first make the race, then if we have a good car at the end race for a top-5 finish and if not at least come home with a top-10 run out of it.”
Having been through the grind of qualifying for high-profile events should serve the driver and crew well, Little said.
"The knowledge the team and I have of knowing we have a car capable of running with the best at any given race track definitely gives us all a confidence booster going into a big race like this 250-lapper.”

Many hours of work from the crew to get the car ready has Little optimistic of his chances of achieving his goals, he added.
“I think (the repair efforts) shows how good our team works together. We are organized and ready for any bumps in the road that might be out there. Our car will be a top-runner this weekend. (Myrtle Beach) is an enjoyable track to run and I'm familiar with it so we should be very good.”
A return to short-track racing is an added benefit, according to Little.
“This is my favorite style of racing. I enjoy running tight, hard and compact races like what we’re doing this weekend. We all are really looking forward to this eventand the potential of our Chevrolet.”
